< 1836 - Martin Bowes - St. Mary's, Kilkenny, Ireland to Worcester, Massachusetts. See TIARA's Worcester database and Boston Pilot Irish Immigrant Advertisement database. [It's not clear whether these refer to the same individual. I would think so but notice in the Boston Pilot advertisement a 1947 date next to first location after immigration, having left his wife and five small children by 1949. If the 1947 date is accurate, four or five of those children would have had to make it overseas. The Martin Bowes in TIARA's database was married in Worcester in 1836, making it quite possible he had had five children by the time of the Boston Pilot advertisement.]
