Thomas Boaz, Scotland to Ireland to US (abt 1735)

"We have not been able to get past the brickwall of Thomas Boaz, I think because the name was probably spelled differently before he came to America around 1735, approximately. The thought is he was from Angus/Forfarshire, Scotland, went to Ireland, married an  Elinor Archdeacon Cody from Kilkenny, had 4 sons in Ireland and then had the rest in Virginia.

"I know there is less proof of our tree as we go back but I like to think we can find proof of Thomas Boaz. From what I have seen, it is pretty positive that he married Elinor/Eleanor Archdeacon-Cody in Ireland and had 5 children in Ireland before they emigrated to the US. It appears that my 4th great grandfather James Boaz was the first child born in Virginia in 1749.  So my guess is they moved to the US sometime after their daughter Gemina was born in Ireland in 1747 and before my gggggrandfather was born in Virginia in 1749."

A search of the online database of parish records did not turn up any documents with this family in Kilkenny. They left Kilkenny mid-1700s, and church records are fairly scarce going back that far. The ones that do exist are more likely to be Protestant; even so there weren't any that matched. The search continues. Hopefully another match will show up with a longer and clear paper trail, and clues will be found existing records.
