Married Mary Ellen Gaffney (or Gafney). This John had a son named John who emigrated to Newfoundland by 1850, where he lived in the Gould's with his son Thomas and thirteen grandchildren. Thomas's son Roache's son is our DNA participant.

One descendent line has been told they were from Waterford and Tipperary, and another that they were from Vinegar Hill, Wexford and Dundee, ?. Including two locations of origin may result from having two ancestral lines from Ireland, and the family not specifying which is from where.
